Project titled "Pilot Study for Assessment of Reducing Air Pollution in Urban Areas by using Medium Scale Cleaning System" (Smog Tower Project) is being implemented under this scheme by giving grant to Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) for its implementation. One smog tower is being installed at Baba Kharag Singh Marg, Connaught Place in compliance to the orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 13029/1985 titled as M.C. Mehta V/s Union of India & Ors, dated 13.01.2020. The Study aims to test the efficiency of the medium scale air cleaning system in providing clean air zones in specific regions to combat acute situations to access its performance in reducing PM2.5 & PM10 concentrations and to decide the further course of action regarding the model and the number of towers to be set up, if any. Total time period of this project is 2 years and 10 months( Construction Period) followed by Performance study for two years. |
